Nisyros

Nisyros is magical.  it is by far the most unusual of all of the Greek islands I’ve visited.  It has a lovely genuine feel and reminds me of the ‘old Greece’ – untouched by tourism.  Its people, food and scenery are wonderful.  Oh, and it’s also an active volcano!  And the cool thing is that you can actually go visit the volcano and walk down inside its crater and see, hear and especially smell (!) its smoking and grumblings.  Quite an amazing experience.   The island itself is stunning and full of amazing villages, churches, and castles.
